Mace Sustain short listed for SHP/IOSH Award

Mace Sustain was short listed for Consultant of the Year at the Safety and Health Practitioner and Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SHP/IOSH) Awards 2008.

Mace Sustain entered its behavioural management of safety programme on the BG Group's headquarters refurbishment project. The objective was to provide a behaviour-based approach to managing safety that would enable client Mace Group and the supply chain to carry out behaviour improvement plans on specific safety issues. Training courses comprising basic behavioural safety theory with site-based exercises were conducted for Mace staff members and supervisors and staff from supply chain companies working on the project. A performance measurement programme was also developed and implemented.

Despite missing out on the award, Mace Sustain's BMOS programme was singled out for praise and the judges were particularly impressed with the evaluation tool as it highlighted very positive performance trends.

Managing Director of Mace Sustain John Hanley commented:

"We were particularly proud to have been short listed in this category in our second year of trading which demonstrates the impact we are having in the introduction of innovative and successful programmes to improve safety performance in our industry. Our nomination also reflects the contribution made to the project by Mace Group's construction management team in the delivery of exceptional health and safety standards."
