Construction work begins on Bognor Regis College project

Mace is pleased to report that main contract works have commenced on the Bognor Regis Community College project.

This is a substantial project comprising a large range of buildings including an upper school, a lower school, 2 primary schools, The Arena Leisure Centre, a vocational skills centre and a nursery in a campus setting which all have to continue to operate normally throughout the construction works.

The project comprises the complete reconstruction of Bognor Regis Community College with £39.8m funding from the BSF One School Path Finder Programme. The project also includes the amalgamation of Glade Infant School and Michael Ayres Primary School into one new 640 pupil primary school which will receive £11m funding from the Every Child Matters funding stream. The primary school planning application has recently been submitted for approval with works due to start on site in January 2009.

Mace's role on the project is construction project manager, acting as the interface between West Sussex County Council and the contractor through all stages of the project. Additionally Mace Sustain is providing CDM coordination on the project.

The primary school is set for completion in January 2010 with the secondary school due to be finished shortly after in July 2010.
